Description:
The MD/PhD Summer Research Internship is an 8-week hands-on program designed for students interested in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist. The internship provides an opportunity to actively engage in biomedical research and gain clinical shadowing experience.

Students can participate in research projects in the following areas:

-Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

-Cancer Cell Biology

-Cellular and Integrative Physiology

-Exercise Physiology

-Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis

-Neuroscience

-Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences

The program includes:

-Competitive stipend ($4,000)

-Travel assistance (up to $500)

-Housing assistance (up to $1,000)

-Clinical shadowing in area of interest

-Flexible Start Date

-Mentoring activities with MD/PhD students

-Professional development workshops (i.e. MD/PhD Pipeline Program, interviewing skills, writing personal statements, building your CV, STEM career panel, creating elevator pitch)

-Clinical skills learning sessions - to apply concepts from case-based learning and to practice skills that will be useful in medical school

-Opportunity to present a poster at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium (July)
