Description: REU InSTRUCT is a ten-week undergraduate research experience in environmental science and urban sustainability. Rising sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply. The program is hosted by the Environmental Science Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.
Students will be trained in research methods for understanding the challenges to the sustainability of urban systems. Participants will work on independent projects under the supervision of a faculty mentor. Project areas are interdisciplinary and encompass the fields of ecology, civil and environmental engineering, and geological sciences. Students will participate in a weekly research seminar series, portfolio creation, and professional development activities. The program will conclude with a research poster session. We especially invite applications from members of traditionally underrepresented groups.
Each student will be awarded a stipend of approximately $6,000 for the summer. On-campus housing will also be provided.
