Note: this opportunity encourages applications from community college students.Description: This is a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) funded Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEU) project. The program is structured as collaborative research groups to teach students how to conduct research with their mentors' guidance. Students will learn to work independently and collaboratively. Ten students from various engineering and science departments will be recruited every year.
The proposed project has three key research areas: 1) Energy Efficiency in Agriculture Systems, 2) Water Quality and Management, 3) Agriculture Economics and Decision Making.
This REEU site provides a nine-week summer undergraduate research program, $4,050 stipends and additional travel allowance, on-campus housing and meal allowance, multidisciplinary research teams with extension experiences, research, educational, and career Mentorship, and weekly seminars about various research disciplines, technical writing, presentation skills, and graduate school preparation.
