Description:
This research experience for undergraduates is funded by the National Science Foundation. It is an 8-week summer research program located at Rice University, Houston, Texas.

Undergraduates will be fully immersed in a research environment and conduct a rigorous project that has implications for real-world problems. Topics are diverse such as patient safety, hiring and personnel selection, discrimination, driving, health psychology, human-computer interaction, human-automation interaction, cybersecurity, election ballots, workplace conditions, leadership, language comprehension and production, sustained attention, aging, emotion regulation, education, usability, teamwork and training. Students also will attend research presentations by faculty mentors, and professional development activities on topics such as workshops on writing resumes, giving oral presentations, and interviewing for a job; writing a research paper and an essay for graduate school applications; and creating a conference poster.

Support includes a stipend of $4800, housing and meals, and travel funds.
