Undergraduates - Junior
Description: During the 10-week residential summer program, research fellows conduct full-time research and are mentored by their Faculty Mentor or Principal Investigator and teams of postdocs, research technicians, graduate students, and other undergraduates. Our SOAR researchers receive a housing award for residence on the Emory campus and a stipend to support their full-time attention to research training and professional development.
LGS-SOAR offers the opportunity to develop skills such as:
Communicating research to a variety of audiences Problem Solving Interpreting Results Actively participate in novel research Navigating difficult ethical situations LGS-SOAR provides an opportunity to build your professional network with our world-renowned and diverse faculty and have an immerse research experience that will help prepare you for graduate school.
The capstone of the experience is a Poster Symposium where research fellows formally present their work. The Poster Symposium is well-attended by the community at large, as well as faculty from Emory University (Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Public Health), Georgia Institute of Technology and other regional universities that are looking for up-and-coming young researchers.
