The BWH STARS Program is a unique summer research opportunity for underrepresented in medicine college and first year medical students with a strong interest in pursuing advanced graduate and medical education and training. During the 8-week stay, students participate in intensive hands-on training in research methods in the laboratories of researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The BWH STARS provides the students with the opportunity to shadow clinicians and network with members of the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School Faculty. Additionally, students participate in a number of educational and training seminars designed to enhance their professional development, encourage academic excellence, and introduce the multiple career pathways available in the biomedical sciences. The BWH STARS Program provides transportation to and from Boston, Housing for the 8-week period, and a living stipend for food and other necessities.
