Academic Level:
Postdoc & Early Career

Description:
The goal of our UCSC/CSUMB IRACDA program is to prepare postdocs with the foundation for a successful career in academia by providing rigorous research training in the field of Stem Cell Biology and by imparting mentoring skills that promote inclusive learning environments.

Postdoctoral salaries, benefits, training expenses, and travel funds are provided during the 4-year training program. Structured mentoring by research (UCSC) and teaching (CSUMB) mentors will provide postdocs with consistent feedback with respect to the development of research skills, pedagogy training, and career planning. Postdocs will focus on:

1) Research with a focus on Stem Cell Biology in the laboratory of a research mentor at UCSC's Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells (IBSC) (75% time commitment)

2) Teaching and Mentoring training and practice, predominantly with a teaching mentor at CSUMB (25% time commitment).

The UCSC/CSUMB IRACDA program has a strong commitment to promote the well-being and success of students and trainees who are historically underrepresented in biomedical research.
