This REU site is structured to teach students how to formulate research questions as well as how to develop and modify research plans with the guidance of their research mentors. Students will work closely with faculty members and graduate students. At IR-SEED REU Site, students will form multidisciplinary research teams, receive research, educational, and career mentorship, attend weekly seminars about various research disciplines, technical writing, presentation skills, graduate school preparation, etc., join amazing field trips and learn about the scientific processes and procedures required to conduct research projects. The IR-SEED REU site provides stipend, travel and meal allowance, free on-campus housing, and additional travel support to attend conferences. Through participation in cutting-edge research with faculty mentors working at the forefront of their respective disciplines, students will engage in complex scientific studies on sustainable energy research topics.
