Description: The Department of Energy's (DOE) Fusion Energy Sciences Postdoctoral Research Program offers recent doctoral degree recipients the opportunity to conduct research in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) fusion energy research and development programs. Participants acquire experience and training in areas of fusion energy science, interact with outstanding scientists and engineers, and have access to advanced equipment and facilities. Appointments are made to designated DOE laboratories, universities, and contractor fusion energy centers.
Research Program details:
The initial appointment period for is one year. Appointments maybe extended for an additional year. Extension of the appointment for a second year will be subject to satisfactory progress toward completion of the project assignments, and availability of funds.
Participants receive an annual stipend of $67,000 plus a stipend supplement to offset the cost of health insurance. A one-time $5,000 relocation allowance is provided by the program if the assigned hosting facility is more than 50 miles from the address shown on the application form.
The program will support one trip per year to an FES-related conference or to another federal research facility.
