About us
The critical zone is the Earth's outer skin where rock meets life. It includes the land surface, the air above it, vegetation, water bodies, and it extends through the groundwater zone. An array of important physical, chemical, and biological processes occur in the critical zone over a range of spatial and temporal scales. Due to its complexity scientists from a wide range of disciplines study various aspects of the critical zone, ranging from the Life Sciences to Geological Sciences to name a few. To learn about the diversity of projects RECCS interns have completed, visit the RECCS site to view their elevator speeches in which they describe their research.
This opportunity is open to all community college students in Colorado- all four corners! Housing is provided for students living beyond the Denver Metro area. RECCS seeks to involve students that are historically under-represented in the sciences, such as African American, Native American, Hispanic, first-generation college students and veterans.
