About us
Participants will be encouraged to attend activities such as, weekly workshops covering communication, design, ethics, teamwork, and entrepreneurship; a day trip to a local museum or Argonne National Laboratory; a presentation on applying to graduate school; and other cohort outings.
This program will be hosted again virtually in 2021 due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. We successfully hosted our Summer 2020 program in a virtual format. In fact, two of the eight students continue to collaborate virtually with their research mentors through the academic year. All student projects will be computationally-based. The majority of projects will use coding languages MATLAB, R, and Python.
Participants in the program receive a taxable stipend of approximately $4,000. Travel, housing and meals are not supported by this program. Information on housing resources can be found on our website.
Participants give a 15-minute slide presentation, a 3-minute recorded video, or a poster presentation at the end of the program to the Center directors, investigators, scholars, and personnel.
