Eight Native American STEM major students will be selected to participate in this PAID intensive research experience: 40 hours per week for 10 weeks during summer. Financial package includes - stipend: $5,000, food allowance: $1200 and travel allowance: $450. Housing is provided during stay on the beautiful Fort Lewis Campus.
During this summer program you will perform relevant scientific research while gaining laboratory skills. You will have the opportunity to develop hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, analyze data and reach conclusions. At the end, participants will present their research at the college. During the summer, you'll strengthen research communication skills; both orally and in written form. Mentors will assist participants in establishing contacts and developing a network in your chosen career or academic area. Participants will be prepared to enter a graduate program through research experiences and professional workshops. In addition to an amazing research experience, participants will have opportunities to have fun with extracurricular activities such as BBQ's, shared meals, professional workshops, hikes and other outings in the Durango area. Durango is a mountain town located in Colorado, near the borders of New Mexico, Utah and Arizona.
