About us
The program will provide trainees with multiple opportunities for research activities and will also foster the development of knowledge, competence, skills, professional attitudes, and experience required for successful academic careers in independent NIH-funded research.
Under the guidance of faculty trainers, fellows will develop the knowledge base to understand the fundamental issues of transplantation including mechanisms of rejection, tolerance, transplant models in small and large animals, cellular transplantation, and the role of the immune system in DGF. They will achieve competence by mastering one of these areas of content, and become skilled in basic, translational, or clinical transplant research methods through laboratory research participation experience. The trainees are required to complete program curriculum, develop and submit well-organized research proposals, present research results at regional and national research meetings, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in preparation of peer-reviewed grant proposals.
