Summer research opportunities for undergraduates

Bioengineering Education Research REU

Program Website this link takes you to a different website

Description: The overall goal of the Bioengineering Education REU program is to provide a rich summer experience for undergraduates from diverse backgrounds that will increase their knowledge of both biomedical engineering and educational theory and pedagogical design. This will be accomplished by their study of learning science and their participation in the development and/or evaluation of curricular materials. The REU will thus provide one of the very few means available to undergraduate students to see what education is like from the instructor's point of view. Students may work on module construction, simulations, and animations in bioengineering, blended instruction techniques that mix synchronous and asynchronous modes of instruction, efficient integration of text, simulation, and figures, and planning experiments and/or analyzing data related to assessment of student learning. Students may also work on middle school or high school outreach projects involving biomedical engineering concepts. In addition, all students receive substantial instruction in and practice of communication skills and ethics: core competencies that are essential to engineering.
