About us
While taking a five-week course at Stone Lab, REU students spend their 'non-class' days focused on research. Working closely with their research supervisor, they collect data, learn how to write up their discoveries, and give a final presentation to their peers learning the research process from start to finish and gaining valuable, professional experience.
Involvement can even continue beyond the summer, as students have the opportunity to attend local and regional conferences and co-author scientific journal articles about their research.
Those undergraduates selected via the highly competitive application process receive a full REU scholarship, which includes in-state tuition for the 2 credit research experience, in-state tuition for one five-week, 4-credit course, the lab fee, and room and board. Applicants must provide their own health insurance, pay any program fees required by particular Ohio State University majors, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Further, first preference will be given to students that hold a junior or senior rank.
