Scholars will conduct original research on the theme of genomic novelty under the mentorship of a faculty member and graduate student mentor in the biology department, participate in professional development activities, and expand high demand technical skills in preparation for a diverse array of STEM careers and/or graduate school.
The program takes place on the UConn Storrs Campus, Stipend is $32,500 yearly stipend plus health insurance.
Overview of Program Components:
-Conduct independent research
-learn skills like PCR, molecular cloning, next generation sequencing techniques, DNA/RNA extractions, bioinformatics and more!
-Advance professional development skills in preparation for diverse careers in STEM or graduate school
-Attend conferences and workshops
-Networking opportunities
-Personalized mentorship
