PhD CandidateUniversity of South Florida,
Tampa, FLHampton University,
Hampton, VAUniversity of California, Los Angeles» ResumePast Research: Isolation of active ingredient in medicinally important natural products performed on plants in Dar es Salaam Tanzania using liquid chromatography. Microscale organic synthesis on small molecules to be used in drug development. Used organometallic chemistry to synthesize substituted nitrones. Studied photophysicalproperties of the reaction of fullerene molecules to electron-rich alkenes. Used organic synthesis to make alkenes and then studied kinetics of their reaction with fullerenes using HPLC.
Current Research: Currently positioned as an analytical chemist in pharmaceutical industry. Uses techniques such as FTIR, HPLC, TLC and chemical identity tests to support production in manufacturing department. Calibrates and performs trouble-shooting on instruments. Aids in efforts to improve efficiency of analytical methods.
Future Research: Currently in pursuit of a PhD utilizing my chemical background in earth sciences. I would like to eventually become involved in the development of environmental policy.
