I am a math professor at the U of Iowa. I live in rural Iowa west of Iowa City where my wife and I raise and train Labrador retrievers, have a little patch of restored prairie, some woods and farm ground. I have a grown daughter who works for a manufacturing company near Chicago.

I have a special interest in high school and undergraduate education and have written several texts and software packages that you can see on my website. I am currently up-dating the eText for our Engineering Math 2 course. You can try the iMultiCalc computational website.

I did research on applications of the modern theory of infinitesimals and recently became interested in visual depth perception from motion parallax. The formula I discovered with a psychologist from North Dakota State was recently shown to have a neurological basis, but we don't yet know if the brain implements the exact formula. You can find these on my website, too.

I worked with summer program Alliance students in 2005, 06, 07, 08, 09. You can see similar projects I developed for calculus students at: http://www.math.uiowa.edu/~stroyan/CTLC3rdEd/ctlc.htm
