I am an Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the College of Public Health and Director of the Biostatistics Core in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC) at the University of Iowa. Courses that I have taught recently include bioinformatics, categorical data analysis, survival data analysis, spatial statistics, and Bayesian computing for Biostatistics graduate students, other graduate students in the College of Public Health, clinical researchers from the College of Medicine, and students in the Biostatistics Department's summer program for undergraduate students.
My research interest in statistical computing have led to the development of several open-source software packages for the R statistical software, such as the 'ramps' program for Bayesian spatial modeling, the 'boa' program for analysis of MCMC sampler output, and the 'magma' package for parallel computing on multicore CPU and GPU architectures. Finally, as Director of the HCCC Biostatistics Core, I collaborate with numerous cancer researchers at the University.
