Melissa Martin

Melissa graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 2002. After graduation Melissa accepted an internship through the Student Conservation Association at the USDA-ARS Invasive Plant Research Laboratory in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Through this internship, she was introduced to research on the management of invasive exotic plants. Her M.S. thesis, completed in the spring semester of 2006, was on the invasion of Melaleuca quinquenervia in southern Florida. Melissa is currently investigating ecosystem-level effects of the invasion of exotic plants in the Florida Everglades in order to develop more effective management and restoration techniques.
