Marie Kurz

Marie graduated from The College of William & Mary with a B.S. in Geology in 2007. Her undergraduate research focused on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to study changes in landscape morphology. In addition she worked to evaluate and promote community awareness of water quality and the impact of residential pollution on the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. In graduate school Marie’s interest has shifted to groundwater and aqueous geochemistry. Her current research focuses on groundwater-lagoon interactions, in particular submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) and the effects of mangroves on local water and chemical budgets.
