Karen Kronoveter

Sustainable Urban Infrastructure
University of Colorado, Denver

I am a second year PhD candidate in the Civil Engineering school at the University of Colorado at Denver, as an IGERT fellow. I graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Biology (Chemistry minor) and from the Colorado School of Mines with a MS in Environmental Science and Engineering. I have over 9 years of experience in the field of environmental chemistry and engineering in both commercial and research settings. These experiences range from conducting analytical and research chemistry to validation/interpretation of chemical data, and all stages of remedial design, including implementation and monitoring programs. My PhD dissertation topic is the characterization of organic waste streams for the utilization of anaerobic digestion as a sustainable technology. Ultimately, I am working towards a specialty in the application of biological, chemical, and physical properties to engineered systems in the context of sustainable practices.
