Assessing Change in Coastal EcosystemsUniversity of Rhode Island
Kingston, RII grew up in Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. I was lucky enough to have parents that loved camping, boating and spending time in the outdoors. For as long as I can remember, I have fond memories boating, fishing, digging for clams and camping on islands with my parents. I was also fortunate that my parents supported whatever field of study I wanted to pursue. I received a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1996. While an undergraduate, I worked for the National Park Service, Canadian Wildlife Service and USFWS. When I graduated, I began working full time for the USFWS and have worked on Refuges in Massachusetts and Maine for the past 10 years. My background and main interests include habitat restoration and management for avian species in coastal ecosystems and freshwater wetlands. The New England coast is part of my childhood, and I knew long before going to school that I wanted to be a biologist when I grew up. When I'm not exploring the coast, I love climbing, hiking, canoeing, traveling and walking my dog. Of course, I've also found great ways to incorporate the coast into all of these activities!
