Kirk Knobelspiesse

Applied Mathematics and Earth & Environmental Sciences IGERT
Columbia University
New York, NY

Kirk Knobelspiesse is a doctoral student in Applied Mathematics. He arrived at Columbia by a rather circuitous route, starting with an undergraduate degree in photography, a master's degree dealing with remote sensing of the earth, and several years working on an oceanographic carbon cycle project at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. While at Columbia, he hopes to strengthen his knowledge of mathematical fundamentals and concentrate on Atmospheric Science, specifically on the role that aerosols play in radiative transfer.

Beyond studies, Kirk likes traveling, backpacking, pretending to be a photographer, and exploring his new home in New York City. Kirk Knobelspiesse
