Brian Jordan

Nanoscale Device Development
University of Massachusetts, Amherst

Brian Jordan, the IGERT fellowship recipient, graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in chemistry in 2001. Under the guidance of Dr. Arthur Ashe, his undergraduate research consisted of developing novel heterocyclic compounds to be used as catalysts. Upon graduating, he worked for two years at Flint Ink, Corporation, in which he formulated inks for industrial applications, such as security inks and food packaging. In 2003, he enrolled in the graduate chemistry program at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Brian is currently a PhD candidate under the direction of Dr. Vincent M. Rotello. His research interests include the study of redox-modulated molecular recognition and the application of these electrochemically controllable interactions to be utilized as a biosensor. He is an avid skier, and when he has time outside of lab, (which is not often), you can see him on the slopes.
