Joel Huegel

As a member of the Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces Lab (MAHI) Joel’s primary interest was in human-robot shared control in a collaborative haptic environments for training and rehabilitation. During the 2005-2006 school year, Joel continued work and completed a haptic device for forearm and wrist hemiparetic stroke rehabilitation. Future work will look at using several different haptic devices to study motor learning factors in an expert-novice training scenario. (Rice University, 2005). He is an Assistant Professor in the Mechatronics Department at the Monterrey Institue of Technology (ITESM) in Guadalajara, Mexico. Huegel has over 5 years of industrial design experience and over 10 years in academic teaching, research and administrative roles. He is originally from Mexico City, Mexico but has lived in the USA, Mexico and Nepal. His areas of research include haptics, automation and computer aided design and manufacturing.
