Deborah Herceg

Applied Mathematics and Earth & Environmental Sciences IGERT
Columbia University
New York, NY

Deborah Herceg has graduated as a doctoral student in Applied Mathematics. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Rutgers University. Her main research interests are the regional climate modeling, atmospheric science and climate change scenarios. She works in conjunction with the International Research for Climate Prediction (IRI) at Lamont. Her research examines and classifies the errors generated by the regional climate model, NCEP RSM 97, thru so-called Big Brother experiment. She currently works on the regional modeling of the Sahelian region that has experienced a serious drying trend since 1970s (in comparison to 1950s). She is examining this interdecadal drying trend thru numerous regional and global model simulations.

Deborah enjoys running and many outdoor activities. She is currently in training for the Air Force Marathon that will take place on September 17, 2005 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. She loves traveling and exploring; just about the most beautiful place (besides Croatia) is definitely Greenland.
