Robin Globus

Adaptive Management: Water, Wetlands and Watersheds IGERT
University of Florida
Gainesville, FL

Robin graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies in 2002 and from the University of Florida with a M.A. in Religion and Nature in 2008. Robin is interested in the ethics of ecological restoration and how different constructions of nature underlie and affect management decisions. How do unarticulated notions about what constitutes an ideal ecosystem state affect policy preferences and the way environmental science is done? And what are the pitfalls and advantages of rendering such values explicit - will it help or hinder environmental decision-making? Her master's research examined the secular and religious elements of environmental apocalypticism, the fear of impending societal or ecosystem collapse due to ecological degradation.
