Marine Biodiversity: Understanding Threats & Providing Solutions IGERTUniversity of California, San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography
I am a third year doctoral student in the Department of Economics at UCSD. My research is focused in the fields of environmental and public economics, with a particular emphasis on the economics of ocean resources. One project that I've been working on investigates how to better design environmental policies which are aimed at individual consumers, and I have been working on a case study which looks at policies to induce boaters to use non-toxic hull paints rather than their current copper-based paints. Also, I've been analyzing the effects of market-based programs for regulating fisheries using data from New Zealand's system of individual transferable fishing quota. I look forward to continuing research in these areas while developing a dissertation focused on the design of economically efficient environmental policies.
