I’m currently working with Shivkumar Kalyanaraman and Partha Dutta in the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (ECSE) on self-organizing, geography aware wireless mesh networks both in the Radio Frequency (RF), Free Space Optics (FSO), and Terahertz FSO domains.

More specifically, we use wireless simulation techniques in addition to actual hardware and software implementation to research practical networking issues such as hybrid geographic and topology-based routing schemes and the synergies between RF wireless networks, infrared optical wireless networks, THz optical wireless networks in hopes of providing strong alternatives as a solution to the last-mile problem.

By bridging the gap between these hybrid networks in terms of not only interface and organization, but deployment and maintenance, it is our hope to one day see a world where technologies from all domains will work cohesively with little to no effort and completely unaware to the average user.
