Samuel P. Burns has graduated with a doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at NYU. His thesis research concerns studying simplified models of equatorial atmospheric dynamics, including the numerical implementation of a weak temperature gradient approximation to a quasi-equilibrium tropical atmospheric circulation model.

Sam is involved in New York City's electronic music scene. When he needs to get out of the city, he can be found surfing on Long Island.
