As a native Rhode Islander, I am happy to be back in the Ocean State after receiving my BA and MA in economics from the University of Montana. I am a PhD student in the environmental and natural resource economic s department and an occasional contributor to The Jamestown Press, a local newspaper. I am also a competitive triathlete and can usually be found in the pool or on my bike at ungodly hours of the morning. My best friend has four legs and bad breath, but is an eager hiking companion and keeps me warm at night. In my spare time I make homemade ice cream , knit hats, and rock climb. And, in the future I would like to compete in a 170 mile dugout canoe race in Panama,ride my bike across Yellowstone, go climbing in Thailand, and get a really great haircut.
